Here are the articles that I chose.
Article one was retrieved from EBSCO and is titled, “Telenurse’s Skills”. In this article Orga-Dumitriu
discusses the additional skills that tele nurses need to have to be successful in the field of telehealth.
The article discusses the change from the traditional laying of hands to developing other forms of
support and management. (Orga-Dumitriu 2014)
Article two was retrieved from PubMed database and is titled, “Telemedicine”. In this article author
Wootton writes about telemedicine with a focus on studies and pilot trials. Wootton describes
telemedicine as an umbrella term that can explain any medical intervention or activity that takes place
from a distance. The article explains how telemedicine has been used successfully and where it is being
used the most. (Wootton, 2001).
The third article that I found through a Google Scholar search is titled, “Evaluation of Telenursing
Outcomes: Satisfaction, Self-Care Practices, and Cost Savings. In this article authors Hagan, Morin and
Lepine review a study completed in Quebec of a telephone health line nursing service that was
implemented in 1995. The article discusses the findings of a survey administered to the public in an
effort to gain insight of the public’s perception of the service. The findings reveal that over half of the
population surveyed reported feeling that the interventions offered by the telenurses were reliable and
helpful. (Hagan, Morin and Lepine, 2000)
