I have spent most of my educational life in Saudi Arabia and the United States. Throughout this
time, I have experienced numerous challenges and strengths which have made me strong and
focused on my studies. Being in the last semester feels like a great achievement to be because I
have gone through a lot to achieve this. My University life began way back in 2013 when I
graduated from the Saad National School. Life in high school was exciting and was determined
to join the university immediately after learning English. After finishing high school, I then
joined the New Haven CT in the United States where I began learning English.
The first experience in a new country with little understanding of their language was tough, and I
had to dedicate myself to fully understanding speaking and writing in English. My parents
motivated me so much, and they were a basic pillar for me to overcome the culture shock in the
new land. I became friends with English-speaking students who assisted me in speaking and
writing. Through them, I was able to understand the new language faster an achievement which
my teachers were surprised with it. My efforts bore fruits, and I finished my English lessons in
2015. I then returned to Saudi Arabia where I joined the Prince Mohammed bin Fahad University
in Alkhobar City. I am currently undertaking a finance major in the same university and am in
my final semester after a four-year of hard work. With the age of 23, I feel that I have done a lot
career-wise and graduating at the end of this semester will be a great success in this competitive
What I plan to do after graduation
The graduation will open doors for me to further my studies because I will be able to work and
study at the same time. I wish to further my studies so that I can fully prepare for my career life.
Learning English will also help me to interact with people, even more, considering that I already
understand my native language. English will be an added advantage for me as I can even work in
the United States or other English-speaking countries in the world. Majoring in the finance
industry will also ensure that I can work in the banking industry which one of the fastest growing
in Saudi Arabia, the United States, and other countries with the big economy. Am thus looking
forward to finishing my second degree so that I can venture fully in working. Although it is
going to be a tough task to begin my masters, my parents would feel happy about it.
Education and work are what I am planning to do after my graduation. I plan to join a local bank
for an internship so that I can gather more experience. Sometimes studying about a certain career
is different from doing it practically. It thus feels that it would be easy for me if I work even if it
is voluntarily in financial institutions to gain the necessary knowledge. It would help me
understand what I expected in this huge industry once I finish up my master’s degree. With that
knowledge and the English writing and speaking skills acquired in the New Haven ELS center, I
would be prepared to prosper in my career. I also plan to be an employer at some time and I
might start my company in the future.
