Objective: Develop an education plan that includes short and long-term
goals, high school program of study, and postsecondary/career goals.
Directions: Complete the following activities on one word document. Save this

Introduction
Many people find it difficult to determine what career courses they want to
pursue after high school or if they want to go to take any courses at all. Many
just want to get a job so they can support themselves and financially help their
family. Then, there are those individuals who know what they want and go for
it! Just as there are many stories, there are many educational and training
paths an individual may pursue that lead to a successful career. In this lesson
you will learn how to close the door on your apprehension, learn about the
various options there are to higher education, and determine which option
[certification, apprenticeships, college, etc] best fits your needs. You will also
learn by visiting sites that provide a guide to help you develop an educational
plan of action that will lead you to your career pursuits.

Go to https://www.collegeboard.org/ and sign up to create your College
Board account.
Once you have confirmed your information, the web page MY
ORGANIZER will open. Under MAKE A PLAN, answer the five simple
questions to get a free step-by-step road map to college.
Familiarize yourself with the entire page, including the drop down menus at
the top of the page. Check out some of the students’ stories by clicking on
the “Student Profiles’ link in the Get Started drop down menu.
Next, select and view the video of one student’s full story.
Write a response to each of the following statements or questions and
provide at least one example in each of your paragraphs.
