Running Head: WEEK 1 ASSIGNMENT
Week 1 Assignment- WSM Lab Results and my Career Objectives
The decision made does not align with my career objectives, but there are some things
that I would have changed. First, commuting from MA to NY might not be a long journey, but
on a daily basis, it is some distance. In this case, I will have to reduce the weighted average
assigned to the trainer’s form location because I am willing to move to any state for a better
experience. Additionally, I would like to meet a firm with a higher experience with materials
which will increase my exposure, thus I will increase the weight given to the experience with
material consideration. In order to enhance growth and development, I will need a trainer who is
available, so I will also have to increase the weight given to trainer availability. Additionally, the
client reference is not very important to my career objectives, so I will reduce its weight.
In order to accomplish my career goal, the first most important goal is to have a trainer
who is available. This is because better training is enhanced through guidance. If a trainer is
hardly available, regardless of how close the training location is or how much resources the
training firm has, I will hardly obtain the desired career growth and development. The second
most important thing is the experience the firm has with the resources. It is important to be in a
firm that has experience with my career growth and development resources so they will be
training me from their experience, which will add value to my theoretical perspectives.
WSMs are very important in decision making because it considers all the relevant
requirements. Additionally, it does not give equal considerations. More weight is given to those
elements that matter most. In the selection of projects, organizations will need it because it can
prioritize on the most relevant projects, for instance, it can assist a firm in giving more funds or
attention to profitable projects at the expense of the less profitable projects. It can also consider
the value of the customer, for instance, it can require the firm to serve loyal customers first. It
will also consider the project time, forcing the firm to only pick projects it can complete within
the required timeline. Each element of consideration is weighted depending on its importance.

Frank Smith Birthday Meal Choice According to the Weighted Average
Name: Frank Smith
Overview: Members of the Smith Family like different foods. It is Frank’s 45th birthday and we need to
determine the menu for Frank’s birthday dinner. Frank and his wife Sally have two young children, and will be
taken into consideration. Some preference will also be given to nutritious and heathy food, and meals that are
good the next day (Frank likes leftovers).

Steak and Chicken Pot
1) According to the weighed scoring model created, the family will be having steak and potatoes for Frank’s
However, now I am wondering if having leftovers should be weighed at 18%. I may decrease the weight there,
add atmosphere of restaurant and create another model.
2) This assignment helped me reevaluate what I thought I wanted and what was important when choosing my
birthday meal. Being able to look at the scores individually and the total weighted average for each choice
helped me evaluate my choices.
I also learned how to do weighted averages in MS Excel.
3) It took some extra time for me to figure out how to make the table visually appealing spreadsheet that prints
on one page. Then I watched the my learning video on tables and realized it was easy. Now I can create nice
looking tables at work.
