Sentence Outline for Research Paper
Why dictator style leadership is better than laissez- faire style leadership.
I.
Introduction
Dictator-style leadership is where the leader makes all the decisions of the organization
without involving the other subordinates. The leader also decides the goals which need to be
achieved in the organization and is in control of all the activities without help from the
subordinates. While laissez-faire style Leadership is very different compared to dictator-style
leadership because the leader involves the members of the group in the decision making. Most of
the sources have concluded that, laissez-faire style Leadership results to low productivity among
the members of the group. My preliminary research shows that dictator-style leadership is better
than laissez-faire style Leadership. Therefore, my research question will focus mainly on the
advantages and the benefits of dictator-style leadership and why many leaders prefer using
dictator-style leadership in the organizations. My thesis supports will focus on the view that it is
possible to practice dictator-style leadership through proper education on its importance and
benefits.
I would wish to explain the importance and benefits of Dictator-style leadership and also
what should be done about it through my research. The benefits of this research proposal are that
Woodruff 2
it will give readers the reason why dictator-style leadership is better than laissez-faire style
Leadership. Through my research, I hope I would change my mentality and other peoples
thinking about the two leaderships and come up with the style of leadership. The main reason I
want to write about this topic is that, most of organizations have low productivity levels due to
poor leadership style. Most of my intended audience will be the human resource managers who
have the mandate of making decisions in an organization. The other audience I hope to reach is
the private and the public investors especially those who believe that good leadership style lead
to high productivity in the company.
Thesis statement: Why dictator style leadership is better than laissez- faire style leadership.
II.
Laissez-faire style leadership is less productive compared to dictator style leadership.
A. The first reason why Laissez-faire style leadership is less productive
compared to dictator style leadership is that there is very little guidance
from the leaders.
1) Studies have shown that organizations which use dictator
style of leadership have high productivity compared to
laissez- faire leadership. Nawaz is a professional analyst
with relation to human resource management. He has been
working as a human resource manager for more than twenty
years and therefore has the authority to research and analyze
the leadership field. According to the source Nawaz gives
an insight into the relationship between dictator leadership
and laissez-Faire style Leadership giving both the benefits
and the challenges of each. The source finalizes by
Woodruff 3
advocating for a dictator leadership as compared to laissezFaire style Leadership which brings lower productivity
levels. The source has a close connection with numerous
sources which talk more about leadership and therefore a
reliable source. However, the source is biased in that it just
gives companies that have succeed on a dictator leadership
as compared to laissez-Faire style Leadership. The intended
audience by Nawaz 2016, is the management and research
students mostly those in the human resource docket. I
believe that the source gives all that one needs to know
about the two types of leadership and therefore choose on
the best. I used keywords in searching for this source
(Nawaz & Irfanullah, 2016).
2) According to a study done by Hunt, where he has described
the different leadership styles and more so on the two styles
in question. He concluded that is better to dictate the team
member because dictation will lead to high productivity in
the organization or the company (Hunt, 2018 )
B. The second reason why Laissez-faire style leadership is less productive
compared to dictator style leadership is that there is poor involvement with
the group.
1) Sources have shown that the leaders in Laissez-faire
style leadership are seen to be withdrawn and less
Woodruff 4
involved. This can therefore lead to less cohesiveness
from the group. Followers sometimes pick up the
leadership and express less care and concern or the
project since the leaders seem to be unconcerned with
what is happening. De Hoogh who has been in the
leadership research team for years, and therefore his
articles are helpful and accredited in the field. The
source tries to describe how the different leadership
styles are influencing the employee’s morale and the
ability to work. He therefore concludes that Laissezfaire style leadership is less productive compared to
dictator style leadership.
2) The involvement of the leaders in Laissez-faire style
leadership is very poor. This is because, the leaders a
less concerned on what the team workers are doing.
Such ignorance leads to low productivity in the
company.
III.
In Laissez-faire style leadership there is confusion over roles in the group.
A. The first reason why there is confusion over roles in the group in Laissezfaire style leadership is that the leaders have a low accountability.
1) Studies have shown that the groups in Laissez-faire style
leadership have a lot of confusion when it come to their
duties. Hunt reported the results of the study proving that
Woodruff 5
there is the need to dictate what your employees will be
doing as compared to giving the liberty to handle the
issues on their own. According to the study dictator style
leadership is very important because the leaders will be
able to make decisions which will guard their workers
(Hunt et al 2018). Hunt, 2018 has borrowed a lot from
other peer-reviewed sources. The article seems to have
no bias as it describes all types of leadership styles and
leaves the reader to choose the best. The intended
audience is the leadership experts’ scholars and any other
individual interested in the topic. I believe that Hunt has
what it takes to define the advantages of dictator
leadership than laissez-faire style. The benefits for the
dictator seem to outdo those by laissez-faire style.
2) laissez-faire style leadership, there is a lot of confusion
due to failure of delegation of duties. This makes the
workers very confused which will lead to the failure of
the organization or the company in the future.
B. The second reason why there is confusion over roles in the group in LaissezFaire style leadership is that avoidance and passivity.
1) Studies have shown that Laissez Faire leadership is
represented by a lot of avoidance by the leaders and also
passivity of a true leadership. The leaders have nothing
Woodruff 6
to do in order motivate their followers. They also don’t
recognize the efforts of each member hence there is no
attempts to group involvements. Puni who has the
authority to research and write on the leadership issues
as permitted by the governing and publishing authority
at the international journal of innovative research and
development reported the results of the study proving
how both dictator leadership and laissez-Faire style
affects the employee’s commitment and innovative
levels Puni (2016). The source has a bias only on the part
where it gives no credit to laissez-Faire style as it says it
kills the morale of the employees.
2) Laissez- Faire style leadership has a lot of confusion
which is according to a research done by Hunt. He states
that it is good to dictate what the employees will be doing
as compared to giving the liberty to handle the issues on
their own.
IV.
In Laissez-faire style leadership there is lack of awareness as compared to dictator style
leadership.
A. The first reason why there is lack of awareness in Laissez-faire style of
leadership is that the roles within the group in Laissez-faire style
leadership are poorly defined.
Woodruff 7
1) Studies have shown that the guidance of the team members is
very little therefore they are not sure about their role and also
what they are supposed to do in a given time limit. Mehta, a
professor in the public relations docket and has been
researching for many years while borrowing from other
resources reported the results of the study proving that
dictatorship style is the best method of leadership because of
its advantages. According to the study, dictatorial leadership
has many advantages compared to laissez-faire style of
leadership (Mehta et al. 2017). Rather than a limited study, this
one was farther-reaching.
2) Research studies which have been done by Nawaz a
professional analyst with relation to human resource
management has proved that the leadership in Laissez-faire
style is poorly defined (Nawaz 2016). Laissez-faire style has a
lot of challenges as compared to dictator style leadership.
B. The second reason why there is lack of awareness in Laissez-faire style of
leadership is that there is a low leadership effectiveness.
1) According to a research done by Ullah which brings
about the different types of leadership outlining
dictatorship as the best. Ullah describes how companies
that have used laissez-Faire style Leadership have failed.
The productivity level, in this case, is poor which sees
Woodruff 8
companies close down. The source has a close
relationship to numerous peer-reviewed articles on
human resource management. Ullah seems to have a bias
on the dictator leadership as he barely advocates for it
through the article (Ullah et al 2019).
2) Studies show that Laissez-faire style of leadership has
low awareness to the members. This is because the
leaders are less concerned as compared to dictatorship
style where the leader make all the decisions which need
to be followed by the team members. Khan, an informed
researcher in the field of public policy and administration
giving him the credits to be an expert in the field reported
the results of the study proving that dictator leadership is
better as compared to laissez-Faire style Leadership
(Khan 2019).
V.
Conclusion
Dictator leadership is the best compared to laissez-Faire style Leadership from my research. I am
hoping that the reader will read the paper and be able to change his or her leadership skills. I
believe that companies and organizations who practice laissez-Faire style Leadership is in a
problem and if the leaders don’t change, the productivity will become very low leading to closure
of the company. It is hard to persuade the leaders who are reading this paper to change their
leadership styles but I believe that I can create a sense of urgency and passion that will persuade
my readers to be educated and to change. This is an important topic and if not addressed companies
Woodruff 9
will continue to see horrible performances in their productivity. I hope that the final portfolio will
be both educational and moving to all leaders worldwide.

Why Dictator-Style Leadership is better than Laissez-Faire Style Leadership
Introduction
Dictator-style leadership is where the leader makes all the decisions of the organization
without involving the other subordinates. The leader also decides the goals which need to be
achieved in the organization and is in control of all the activities without help from the
subordinates. The image below illustrates how a leader in dictator-style leadership controls his
aides.
Woodruff 2
Laissez-faire style leadership is very different compared to dictator-style leadership because the
leader involves the members of the group in decision making. Most of the sources have concluded
that laissez-faire style leadership results in low productivity among the members of the group. My
preliminary research shows that dictator-style leadership is better than laissez-faire style
leadership. Therefore, my research question will focus on the advantages and the benefits of
dictator-style leadership and why many leaders prefer using dictator-style leadership in
organizations. My thesis supports will concentrate on the view that it is possible to practice
dictator-style leadership through proper education on its importance and benefits.
Research Statement
I would wish to explain the importance and benefits of Dictator-style leadership and also
what should be done about it through my research. The benefits of this research draft are that it
will give readers the reason why dictator-style leadership is better than laissez-faire style
leadership. Through my research, I would change my mentality and other peoples thinking about
the two leaderships and come up with the style of leadership. The primary motivation behind my
research topic is the fact that most organizations have low productivity levels due to poor
leadership style. Most of my intended audience will be the human resource managers who have
the mandate of making decisions in an organization. The other audience I hope to reach is the
private and the public investors especially those who believe that good leadership style leads to
high productivity in the company.
Methods Used To Conduct Research
To conduct my research effectively, I’ll rely on secondary sources from scholars supporting
my thesis statement. The scholars’ information on this topic is contained in books, journals, and
Woodruff 3
personal research based on their experiences. My choice to rely on their study for referencing
purposes is motivated by the accuracy of information and findings on dictator-style leadership vis
a vis the laissez-faire style of leadership.
I’ll also rely on the personal observation on how various firms are managed and the
leadership styles incorporated in them. From the observations made, I’ll relate my personal
findings with the researchers’ findings to prove the effectiveness of the dictator-style leadership
as opposed to the laissez-faire style of leadership.
Why Dictator-Style Leadership is better than Laissez-Faire Style Leadership
Productivity
Laissez-faire style leadership is less productive compared to dictator-style leadership. The
first reason why Laissez-faire style leadership is less productive compared to dictator-style
leadership is that there is very little guidance from the leaders. Studies have shown that
organizations which use dictator-style leadership have high productivity compared to laissez-faire
leadership. Nawaz is a professional analyst with relation to human resource management. He has

he has described the different leadership styles and more so on the two styles in question. He
concluded that it is better to dictate the team member because dictation will lead to high
productivity in the organization or the company (Hunt 2018).
The second reason why Laissez-faire style leadership is less productive compared to dictatorstyle leadership is that there is poor involvement of leaders with the group members. Sources have
shown that the leaders in Laissez-faire style leadership are seen to be withdrawn and less involved.
Therefore, the lack of involvement by laissez-faire leaders with the group can lead to less
cohesiveness from the members. Followers sometimes take over the leadership and express less
care and concern on the project since the leaders seem to be unconcerned with what is happening.
